Derbyshire Blue John Reversible 9ct Yellow Gold Pendant Necklace
We have for sale a beautiful 9ct gold Blue John Double sided pendant. It has been beautifully hand crafted in Sheffield, England. In a medium pear shape design, and set with two pieces of totally unique Derbyshire Blue John. One piece is mainly dark blue purple, while the other side features a lighter, more patterned design. The side of the pendant features a large Hallmark from the Sheffield Assay Office with date letter X. This pendant is available on its own or with an 18" or 20" strong 9ct yellow gold curb chain. Blue John stone is a rare, semiprecious mineral, fluorite, found at only one location in the world. This is at Treak Cliff Cavern which is at the western end of Hope Valley near Castleton in Derbyshire, England. The name Blue John derives from the French Bleu Jaune, meaning Blue John. It was first discovered by miners exploring the cavern for lead.
