We have for sale a stunning sterling silver Blue John large size reversible pendant. It has been beautifully hand crafted in Sheffield, England. In a large pear shape and set with a unique piece of Derbyshire Blue John on one side and a stunning piece of Connemara marble with its vibrant green finish on the other. The 22" strong sterling silver curb chain slips through a large Celtic design bale. A large feature Hallmark from The Sheffield Assay office is present on the side with date letter X.
Blue John stone is a rare, semiprecious mineral, fluorite, found at only one location in the world. This is at Treak Cliff Cavern which is at the western end of Hope Valley near Castleton in Derbyshire, England. The name Blue John derives from the French Bleu Jaune, meaning Blue John. It was first discovered by miners exploring the cavern for lead.
Connemara Marble is found in Ireland. This Irish gemstone is one of the rarest forms of marble in the world. Connemara Marble is well known for its green colouring, patterns and layers. This stone is considered to be spiritual, bringing luck and serenity.
