We have for sale a stunning pair of 9ct yellow gold Blue John drop earrings. They have been hand crafted in Sheffield. Only 10 pairs of earrings in this design are ever going to be made, of which this is pair number 2. Comes with a certificate to show this.
The earrings are a classic shield design with a top stud. They are set with 2 beautiful pieces of unique Derbyshire Blue John, and the stud is set with Whitby Jet. They fasten with a 9ct yellow gold post and butterfly, and each have a full British Hallmark from the Sheffield Assay office on the polished back.
Blue John stone is a rare, semi precious mineral, fluorite, found at only one location in the world. This is at Treak Cliff Cavern which is at the western end of Hope Valley near Castleton in Derbyshire, England. The name Blue John derives from the French Bleu Jaune, meaning Blue John. It was first discovered by miners exploring the cavern for lead.
Jet is fossilised driftwood, discovered in Yorkshire in England, Northern Europe, Asia and North America. Jet is a spiritual gemstone and is considered to have abilities of protection and purification, with grounding energies. This is a great stone for emotional healing, having calming effects on people with anxiety and depression.
